Digging out the closet and found some rare skate memorabilia I thought I'd share. These are 14" x 22" cardboard posters, the first is from 1985 and it was actually used in the legendary skate video The Bones Brigade Video Show 2: Future Primitive by Powell Peralta. I actually have 2 of the Public Domain one's, so if you has goodies you wanna trade hit me up.

serious skate history right here people

not sure what these next 2 were used for though.

This is an unstuck Atari 720 sticker(18" x 16") that I got off of Sean Cliver, Sean got it from legendary skater Steve Caballero, Cab was sponsored by Atari to promote the arcade game 720. Gator is the actual skater depicted in the graphic. When I worked at my first skate shop I played 720 every freakin day.

This guy is good.

I threw this together today for fun and for my love of fellow Pennsylvanian, Andy Warhol, when I went to art school in Pittsburgh, I lived on Dawson street, the street Andy grew up on. Originally I didn't put music to this, but it cracked me up when I did. This was the only track I had featuring Madonna by 2 Many DJ's. I also learned from this magical painter with the blue tear that the poster people have free reign unless the wall says post no bills, in which case it would be illegal for them to put them up. It's kind of crazy to think that advertisers can choose any wall they see fit unless they contain those 3 little words.

I went to the Dormitorium to see the show "Film Decors by the Quay Bros." http://www.parsons.newschool.edu/events/event_detail.aspx?eID=1143

This was truly a dream come true for me. The Brothers Quay are identical twins from my home state of Pennsylvania, and are arguably the best stop-motion animators ever, certainly in my opinion anyway. Seeing the set of Street of Crocodiles was something I never thought I would get to see. This is the first time these pieces have been in the US.

I highly recommend checking out the show, or at the very least familiarizing yourself with their work. "Film Decors by the Quay Bros." runs until Sunday, Oct. 4th.

Last summer I spent 2 months in Rio and went to 3 Flamengo matches. The first 2 I sat in the "gringo" or "safe" section where the families and college kids go. When I asked if we could go sit in the Raça section (pronounced "Hoss-ah"). I was told from a Brazilian "I wouldn't even go there myself let alone take a gringo there." Raça are Flamengo's hard core supporters and during my stay they threw a bomb(mostly likely a quarter stick) at the Flamengo players during training injuring one player, but not seriously. It's because Flamengo went from 1st to 6th place. It was caught on video, but Globo has taken it down and I can't find it anywhere.

So, doing the most illogical thing possible, I not only went to Maracana (Mah' dah' kanah) solo, but I headed straight to where I was specifically told not to. I earned the nickname "gringo loco" after they saw my evidence. I'd be willing to bet that I'm the only gringo to ever roll solo in the Raça section. Brazil, Flamnego, I love you. Fuck being careful. MEEEEEEENGOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

"it was funny. me and swoon had a show in london two years ago with david ellis. we took a break from building to go around the corner to the bicycle film fest to say hi and see the show. when we saw your pictures, me and swoon's photos were one over the other. it was cute and funny."

Check out Sean Cliver's new book The Disposable Skateboard Bible published by Ginko Press
http://www.gingkopress.com/

I contributed photos of my collection (which you can see a lot of in the picture below sprawled out on my kitchen floor) and I also interviewed Mark for it. Cliver did an amazing job, the quality is fantastic and if you've ever skated, believe me, it's worth its weight in gold.

Headbanging while making fire. Amazing video that Brian from Animal Collective showed me. It doesn't get more metal than this.
